KNTp model thermocontracting

KNTp model thermocontracting terminal cable connectors for outdoor use
are designed for the termination of multicore power cables with either plastic
or impregnated-paper insulation and with voltages of up to 10 kV. The KNTp connectors
are designed for outdoor mounting, including pole-type mounting.
The thermocontracting
material of which the connector is made is manufactured from thermoplastics using
a special technology. After radiation treatment, the material obtains new operating
and technological properties, the main one being its capability to contract in
volume when warmed up, all the while keeping its initial shape.
Thermocontracting
articles provide complete impermeability and high insulating properties. In addition,
they have a high mechanical strength and are resistant to chemical action and
environmental effect.
Basically, the terminal connector consists of
thermocontracting parts (different diameter tubes, cable guards and a three- or
four-core glove, depending on the cable type). These parts are oil-resistant and
tolerate temperature fluctuations well. The glove is made of insulating thermocontracting
material. Its inner surface is covered with a hot-melt adhesive sealer, ensuring
high adhesion. In addition, the thermocontracting terminal cable connector delivery
set includes cable-core insulators that are resistant to environmental effects
and leakage currents.
After contraction, all the thermocontracting materials
retain their stress-strain properties and sufficient electrical strength (not
less than 30 kV/sq.mm under the temperature range of -50°C to +100°C.
The delivery set includes fittings for cold jointing of the earthing cable, including
a contact plate, a flat spring and an earthing cable.
